Channing Tatum as Captain America?
MTV Splash Page reports that G.I. Joe star Channing Tatum was apparently interested in portraying Captain America in the upcoming Avengers film. That is, until he found out Will Smith might be up for it.
“I would love to talk about it… When I’d heard that Will Smith was [interested], I’m just like, ‘God, yeah. That’s who should play it… It would be a different Captain America than we all know in the comic, but it’s perfect.”
Both Smith and Matthew McConaughey had been rumored for the part on fan message boards, but apparently no actor has yet been approached to play the superhero in the film, to be directed by Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III, Hidalgo), and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Narnia).
