Quaid, Moore, Sheen in HBO’s “The Special Relationship”
Variety reports big names in the cast of the upcoming HBO film “The Special Relationship “. About the political relationship between British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former President Bill Clinton, the film will star Dennis Quaid as Clinton, Michael Sheen as Blair, and Julianne Moore as Hillary Clinton. Peter Morgan is expected to make his directorial debut with the film.
I think Moore is an excellent choice as Hillary and, obviously, Michael Sheen is the natural choice to play Blair (having already played him in “The Deal” and “The Queen”). I’m reserving judgment on Dennis Quaid as Bill Clinton, though. Quaid is a great actor, but I’m having a hard time picturing him as Clinton. It was rumored awhile back that Russell Crowe was being considered, and I could picture him disappearing into the role very easily. Quaid-not so much. Guess we’ll see!
